Not doing yoga = sore back

For the past week or two, I have not been teaching or practicing as much yoga as usual, and already I can feel my back stiffening, my joints creakier, my focus scattered. Hatha yoga, like so many practices that are healthy for us, the benefits sometimes are forgotten about until they depart. Flexibility, strength, balance and focus are all great, but they are often more noticed in their absence than their presence.

In light of these findings, I intend in 2006 to make my yoga practice a higher priority on my daily routine, along with sitting meditation, exercise, writing and reading. Quite a task, but I think I'm up for it.

What's your new year's resolution?

I'm going to learn Spanish, become a teacher, buy a house (hopefully), live, love and learn.
