Be nice. |
Karma is a Sanskrit word that literally means "action." The law of karma describes the connection between actions and the resulting forces. Wholesome actions lead to wholesome states while unwholesome actions lead to unwholesome states, individually as well as collectively. But karma is complex and cannot be simply understood as it is used in American popular culture. Stealing from someone doesn't necessarily mean you will be stolen from later that week.
The best thing we can do as humans is act with compassion and help our fellow beings -- humans, animals, plants, the planet. Consider taking an hour out of your busy week to volunteer, donate time or money, connect with someone, reach out. Let every interaction be an act of service. Smile, listen attentively, speak and act mindfully. It's good karma. | |
